Having provided counselling both in Brockville Ontario and Fort McMurray in Northern Alberta, I am excited to be back in the fabulous city of Kingston where I completed my undergraduate education.
My strengths are working collaboratively with youth and adults to navigate relationship and spiritual concerns, life stressors and transitions, help them rewire unhelpful thought patterns, and better manage challenging emotions like anxiety, anger, loneliness and guilt which can often become debilitating and detract from our quality of life. I also enjoy working with queer, questioning, transgender, non-binary and gender-nonconforming individuals, as well as those in non-traditional relationships and can offer support as they navigate their identities and mental health challenges.
I work from an integrated, client-centered, solution-focused, gender-affirming and harm-reduction approach. I have a deep appreciation for the existential approach which facilitates a non-pathologizing and empathetic therapeutic dialogue where individuals can gain an awareness of the barriers preventing them from living intentionally and leading fulfilling, meaningful and balanced lives. I offer a judgment-free and safe therapeutic atmosphere where clients feel comfortable being themselves, and sharing their failures, successes, challenges and hopes for the future. As your therapist I see myself as a fellow traveller, as we make sense of where you are in the journey that is your life, where you would like to go, and how to better align yourself with your goals or values.
I am a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario, and a Canadian Certified Counsellor with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I hold a BAH Double Major from Queen’s University in Psychology and Religious Studies, and a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from Athabasca University in Alberta. I look forward to working with you!
