Art Therapy

Art Therapy is a form of psychotherapy which combines art making with traditional talk therapy. Art is made in session or before a session. No previous art experience necessary!

Art can help you to express thoughts and feelings that would otherwise be difficult to articulate or talk about and it can help you visualize what is going on in your mind and make sense of it with the help of an art therapist. Meaning and insight uncovered in the art can help you to process difficult experiences and gain self-awareness and understanding.

Creating art relieves stress and increases confidence and self-esteem. Art therapy can help people to learn new ways to change their thinking patterns and behaviors.

Our art therapist will guide you through questions about your art to find meaning and insight uncovered in the art that can help you to process difficult experiences and gain self-awareness and understanding.

Art therapists undergo specific training, and the field of art therapy is a specialized form of psychotherapy that has been researched and proven effective for treating many different mental health issues.

Art therapists are registered with the Canadian Art Therapy Association and follow standards of practice.
